History
The CUB building and woodland was purchased from Devon County Council in 2021, with a view to providing a safe and secure space for community groups to come together, learn, enjoy friendship and grow. The building was in a dilapidated state when it was acquired, and since then, we have worked hard to make the building weatherproof and secure so that we can offer a comfortable and welcoming space to our many user groups
Users
The site currently has up to 300 users a week including, amongst others, the Youth Club, Mothers and Toddlers group, social groups for people with learning difficulties and a Forest School. We particularly cater for under-represented and vulnerable groups, keeping rents low to reach as many people as possible. Honiton and the surrounding neighbourhoods benefit by having this unique facility – there is no other similar space available for such a wide range of vulnerable users
Governance
The CUB is a small charity run by a dedicated board of trustees and a centre manager. It receives rental income from the regular user groups and ad hoc hires which is supplemented by grants and donations.
