Member Listing Guide

What is a full member listing?

A full member listing is your own dedicated page on the Honiton Business network website.

Do I need a full listing?

All our members are eligible for a detailed full member listing. We do not charge extra for a full listing.

A good member listing will help promote your business but it also helps to promote the business network as a whole so we do encourage members to create a full listing.

However, it is completely optional and about half our members do not have one.

What do we need from you?

We just need you to fill in our online Member Listing form

The form asks you to provide a detailed description of your business and some other details. Ideally you should write somewhere between 200 and 800 words – less than this and Google and other search engines may not index your listing.

We also like to include a good photo. Read on for the details.

1. A photo (not a logo)

The photo should feature you or your team, but it could also show your shop, office, products, or something distinctive — for example, a quirky sign or display that reflects the personality of your business or organisation. The aim is to give visitors a genuine sense of who you are.

If you have given us permission on the application form, we can try and find a suitable image from your website or social media accounts. Otherwise, we will contact you and ask you to send us a photo.

Photos should be landscape format (ideally 3:2 aspect ratio) at least 800 px wide, and ideally 2560 px or more.

2. Your logo (if we can’t find it)

We usually get your logo from your website or social media accounts.

We use it to create a 1200 × 628 px “Open Graph” image. This is the image which appears when someone shares your page on social media services such as LinkedIn, Facebook, or X (Twitter).

This image is not visible on your page – it’s only used behind the scenes so your shared links display properly.

We’ll only ask you for a logo if we can’t find a suitable version of it online.

3. Your business description (200–800 words)

We recommend writing around 200–800 words for the description of your business. A longer, more detailed description is better for search engines such as Google and makes your listing more likely to be found online.

Try to avoid copying text directly from your website. Writing new content for your listing is better as otherwise search engines may think we have stolen the content from your website.

4. Other details

We also ask for some other optional information

  • your business address
  • the business telephone number
  • an alternative telephone number (e.g. mobile)
  • opening hours

We usually only publish the address if it’s a customer‑facing location, such as a shop or office that welcomes visitors. We can also show a small map of your location to help potential customers find you.

If your business operates from a private or home address and you don’t want it published, then please don’t provide your address.

The online form also allows you to give us details of your website and social media pages so we can link to them from your listing. The current options are

  • Facebook
  • Instagram
  • LinkedIn
  • TikTok
  • Twitter/X
  • Website
  • YouTube
