Thea Watts, the South West regional manager for Cash Access UK has confirmed that a banking hub is definitely to open in Honiton in February 2027.
At a packed meeting of the Honiton Business Network held at Club 102 on Honiton High Street on Friday 31st July 2026, she said that Honiton will get “a top notch banking hub with an ATM”.
The new hub will provide cash deposits and withdrawals for charities and businesses as well as individuals.
Thea confirmed that the search for suitable premises is under way and that the Cash Access UK property team had already considered a number of locations in the town. However, she said “we are trying to find the perfect location – approx. 1,000sq foot, ground floor, accessible, central”.
She also noted that as the banking hub in Sidmouth is one of the busiest banking hubs in the UK, they expect the new hub in Honiton to be another busy banking hub.
She confirmed that to avoid what she described as a “cold spot”, that is a period without access to cash or banking services, the Cash Access UK project manager is also looking for a possible temporary location to ensure that a Banking Hub is definitely available by February 2027 when Lloyds Bank closes.
Counter services will be available Monday to Friday for customers of any major bank. The hub will also provide “community bankers” where customers can talk to their own bank about more complicated banking issues. The community bankers will work on a confirmed rota basis, with representatives of a different bank available on each day of the week.
Planning for the Honiton hub is well advanced with a daily rota already agreed with Santander, Lloyds, Barclays, HSBC and Natwest.
The new Banking Hub operator for Honiton will be appointed soon by the Post Office.
The Honiton Business Network would like to thank Donna and all the staff at Club 102 for hosting the meeting and their hospitality.
